ITS Vienna Region is the competence center for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) of the three Austrian provinces of Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland. They are also involved in financing and project management.
Founded in 2006, ITS Vienna Region with around 25 experts is today a division of Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region (VOR) and is divided into the specialist areas of ITS Data Engineering and Data Science, Project Management / Development, ITS System Engineering, GIP Operation and Traffic Modeling.
ITS or traffic telematics encompasses the collection, transmission, processing and application of (digital) data in the transportation sector. Examples include routing services, traffic detection sensors, traffic management systems and networked cooperative systems.
Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS or traffic telematics) can make a significant contribution to making mobility more efficient, safer, more flexible and more environmentally friendly.
With up-to-date traffic data, efficient traffic management and high-quality traffic information, all traffic participants should be able to get from A to B comfortably, ecologically, safely and quickly. Automation, traffic models and the networking of different systems also play a key role in this. This is based on the transport policy objectives of the three provinces of Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland.
ITS Vienna Region combines and analyzes traffic data and makes it usable for traffic management, e-government and transport services. For all road users, ITS Vienna Region operates the Austria-wide routing service AnachB together with Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region.
In addition, ITS Vienna Region is also responsible for project management, tenders, development and operation and is represented in numerous research projects and committees. ITS Vienna Region is a founding partner of the Austria-wide projects Verkehrsauskunft Österreich VAO, Graphenintegrations-Plattform GIP and basemap.
